The President Invites Families of Shot Guard Soldiers to the White House

Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Vigils across the state have been held in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump informed the press. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Response

Mourners assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers desired. She carried herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the press. “She was caring, caring and always eager to support those in need.”

Service plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Measures and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the administration to pause asylum applications and cease providing visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with the family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with distinction, per the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” the governor informed the crowd at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
