The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change. Online Platforms Response Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services. They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Changes Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10. With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Stories One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Manual Updates Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
